Many people ask me: "How did you start? How do you organize a whole century of family history without losing your mind?"
The truth is: in the beginning, there was often just chaos. A chaos of dates, emotions, and vague memories. I’ve learned that inspiration isn’t something you can force. You have to create a place where it can land.
During my years of journeying into the past, I consciously created oases of silence. Little rituals that helped me tune out the noise of the present. Most of the time, it started very simply: I’d make a cup of tea, pick up my notebook, and light a candle.
The moment the scent filled the room, the thoughts often came all by themselves. The scent became a bridge to the past. That is exactly why I created our signature candle for Clio and Quill – a creation that gave me a great deal of strength while I was writing:
The Archive: A warm, grounding blend reminiscent of old paper, leather, and parchment. It is designed to help you find focus, clear the mental clutter, and dive deep into your own thoughts or research.
Whether you are trying to remember the sound of your grandmother's voice, writing down your own memories, or searching for the plot of a new chapter: create that moment for yourself. Sometimes, a lit candle, a hot cup of tea, and a blank page are all you need to find that first sentence.
